What is the course about?
You will develop and consolidate your communicative skills by enhancing your vocabulary and developping your mastery of French grmmatical structures. You will particpate to discussion and develop your understanding of French culture and current affairs.
What will we cover?
Texts from a variety of sources on aspects of contemporary France. Extracts from French TV/radio news (current affairs and other programmes). Structural exercises.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Communicate with greater confidence in French
Summarise the content of a French radio or TV programme
Compare aspects of French and English civilisation
Write more accurately in French.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Stage 5 course - Students should have an advanced level of spoken and written French equivalent to at least a good post A-level/degree standard. We strongly recommend that you contact the languages office in order to have your level assessed.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Reading, discussion, pair/group work. Some English to French translation. The emphasis will be on oral work, students will play an active part in all discussions & group work. Homework: Revision of work, structural exercises daily.
