What is the course about?
This course will help you to extend your communications skills, perfect your grammar and develop your vocabulary.
What will we cover?
Texts from a variety of sources on aspects of contemporary France: current affairs, arts, culture, etc. Grammar revision will be discussed to the tutor at the begin of the course according to student's needs.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Communicate with greater confidence in French
Summarise the content of a French radio or TV programme
Write more accurately in French.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Stage 5 course - Students should have an advanced level of spoken and written French equivalent to at least a good post A-level/degree standard. We strongly recommend that you contact the languages office in order to have your level assessed.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Reading, discussion, pair/group work. Some English to French translation. The emphasis will be on oral work, students will play an active part in all discussions & group work. Homework: Grammar revision and oral presentations.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
Based on tutor's own material, extracts of novels, magazines, newspapers, TV and radio programmes.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
Other French 5 courses in September 2016. Ask your tutor for advice. Please enrol as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
