What is the course about?

Designed to build confidence as you continue your French learning, this course offers a gradual introduction to new language structures and vocabulary while discovering the French‑speaking world. Learners develop all four skills, with a strong focus on speaking and listening.

What will we cover?

Topics covered include family, daily routine and free time, hobbies and interests, and describing the area where you live.

Language focus includes the present tense of some common irregular verbs; il y a / il n’y a pas de; the impersonal pronoun on; prepositions à and en; forming and asking questions; adjective agreement; possessive adjectives; countries; places in town; shop names; means of transport; family members; and leisure activities.

Cultural content introduces learners to Paris and Lyon, as well as a selection of festivals from the French‑speaking world.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

  • Speak about your family using simple sentences
(e.g. J’ai deux enfants. Ma sœur habite à Paris.)

  • Talk about your daily routine
(e.g. Je travaille du lundi au vendredi. Je me lève à sept heures.)

  • Describe your free time and leisure activities
(e.g. Le week‑end, je fais du sport et je regarde des films.)

  • Describe the area where you live
(e.g. J’habite dans un quartier calme. Il y a des magasins et un parc.)

  • Talk about your interests and hobbies
    (e.g. J’aime voyager. Je m’intéresse à la musique et à la cuisine.)

Please note that learning outcomes may vary depending on the general progress made by the students.
