Heiner is originally from Hanover in Northern Germany. After finishing his degree and working with young adults in Hamburg, he moved to London where he started working in the further and higher education sector. Heiner has taught German to students from a wide range of ages and backgrounds and was Principal lecturer at the University of Westminster for many years. He has published a number of German books, including the best-selling Willkommen series, grammar books for Routledge and the BBC and various Teach Yourself titles. He now works for Oxford University, City Lit and as a private language consultant and author. He is currently writing a history of his family.

Always passionate about languages, Tatjana qualified as a secondary school teacher in her native Germany and taught English, French and German at secondary schools in Germany, France and England for several years. When covering a German evening class in adult education over 15 years ago, she was impressed by the students' motivation to learn foreign languages and has been teaching adults ever since. She still enjoys teaching languages to children and teenagers and the variety of working with students of all ages. In her free time, she loves travellling and spending time with friends and family.
