German beginners intensive: module 1

Anna has been working as a German, Russian and French language teacher since 2010 and has taught adults and children, both groups and individuals, from complete beginners to advanced learners. Anna thinks that enjoyment and motivation are the most important factors when learning a language, so she includes a lot of role play, conversation and real-life materials in her lessons. Languages are her main passion which she tries to communicate to her students. Anna also extensively works as a translator and editor. She has a significant experience in the development and editing of original teaching materials, as she has worked a lot in the field of educational publishing. Anna is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and works as an examiner and presenter for this institution. Anna holds a Translator's Degree from the University of Heidelberg, a Master’s degree from ESCP (École Supérieure de Commerce de Paris), the Diploma in Translation IoLET and the CELTA qualification. Anna has a multicultural and multilingual background as she lived and worked in Germany, France, Russia and England for many years.

Barbara has been teaching German to Adults sind 1998 and since 2015 for City Lit: She says:' Changing my carreer from working in an office to teaching German has been the best decision for me. I can truly say that I love my job! Interacting with my students and to see them develop their language skills is very enjoyable to me and can fill me with satisfaction. I believe that learning another language is fun and I try to structure my lessons based on this motto. Teaching is a profession for me, in which I find that I myself can also learn; grow and get better in my work.'

Friederike, a native speaker of German, became interested in teaching when she moved to the UK. After a career change, Friederike undertook an MA in Education, and became a qualified teacher in post-compulsory education. As well as having managed language departments, Friederike is experienced in teaching adults from varying backgrounds and levels. Friederike says: “I have gained a greater understanding of my own language through the teaching of German to adults – finding new approaches to best share this knowledge is a continuing journey for me. It is so satisfying to see learners progressing and gaining more confidence, particularly in their speaking skills. Many students have turned their learning into a life passion!’’
