Description

What is the course about?

Woodcut is one of the oldest printmaking mediums, and yet still hugely popular in contemporary art practice. Utilising the surface of the wood to add grain and texture. you will learn creative use of the tools, the inks and the press to make monochrome and multi coloured prints. The processes you will practice are transferable to working from home or in your own studio.

What will we cover?

Using wood as a matrix for printing from
Using the tools creatively and safely
Using the inks effectively and experimentally
Using the press and hand printing techniques
Using the right type of paper to get different results.

By the end of this course you should be able to...

make your own expressive woodcut prints using the correct tools, inking techniques and transfer process.

taught sessions with 1:1 support and guidance delivered at an appropriate level whether you are a beginner or have experience.
