Whether you want to explore counselling as a personal interest, would like to train to become a counsellor, or are already working in the profession and are looking for CPD to develop your professional skills, there's plenty of courses to choose from at City Lit. We offer a range of part-time counselling courses, including evening classes, daytime and weekend courses.

Please note: applications for our Certificate in Counselling Skills (level 3) and Diploma in therapeutic counselling: integrative or person-centred pathways (level 4) will open on Monday 1 April 2019.

  1. Self-care: an introduction to the Jungian concept of soul

    Through looking at Jungian Psychology, we will look at the ‘Soul’ and you'll be invited to explore what this may mean for you, how to help make you be more aware of its presence and how this could be more integrated into your everyday life.

  2. A case about men: discover your anima

    We will consider the concept of the anima as defined by Jungian Psychology and you'll be invited to explore aspects of your own anima, how to help make you be more conscious of it and how this could be more integrated into your everyday life.

    This course is exempt from our usual refund and transfer policy, therefore if you change your mind and would like a refund you must request this at least 3 week before the course is due to start. We charge an admin fee of 20% (minimum £10) per refund processed. We will not give you a refund for this course if we receive your request less than 3 weeks before the course starts or once the course has started.

  4. Diploma in therapeutic counselling: integrative pathway

    The application process for this course has closed. We are not accepting anymore applications. This two-year course qualifies you to practise as a counsellor.

    The course fee is £2800, plus an upfront fee of £1599 payable at the time of your enrolment.

  5. Certificate in counselling skills

    Do you want to develop counselling skills for paid or voluntary work? This course includes occasional weekend sessions (approximately once per term) which you will be required to join. In order to apply for this course, please ensure that: • you have (or will have) completed an introductory counselling course of 30 hours, with an attendance record of at least 80% (within the last three years) OR • you have completed an introductory counselling course of 30 hours with an attendance record of at least 70% AND you have completed a ‘Counselling introduction: advanced’ course (or equivalent) with an attendance record of at least 80% (within the last three years) • you are able to speak and write fluently in English (level 2/GCSE).

    The course fee is £800, plus an upfront fee of £1099 payable at the time of your enrolment.
