How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Through presentation, tutor-led group discussion, small-group discussions, and some short writing exercises done in class followed by feedback from the tutor and other members of the class.
All writing courses at City Lit will involve an element of workshop. This means that students will produce work which will be discussed in an open and constructive environment with the tutor and other students. The college operates a policy of constructive criticism, and all feedback on another student’s work by the tutor and other students should be delivered in that spirit.
For classes longer than one day, regular reading and writing exercises will be set for completion at home to set deadlines.

Tori/V.L. Bovalino (she/her) has been writing stories for as long as she can remember. She is the author of The Second Death of Locke, which was a Sunday Times, USA Today, and SPIEGEL bestseller. Tori has also published multiple YA horror novels and edited the Indie-bestselling anthology, The Gathering Dark. She is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and now lives in the UK with her partner and their very loud cat. She holds a PhD in English and sometimes uses those powers for good (educating university students through workshops and lectures) and sometimes for evil (using JSTOR to research nefarious and fantastical topics for books). Tori loves scary stories, obscure academic book facts, and impractical, oversized sweaters. She can be found on Instagram as @toribovalino
