An introduction to the practical and creative use of perspective. Lively exercises lead up to drawing in perspective from observation and imagined objects and spaces. This course is for a perfect introduction to perspective drawing for beginners. There will also be the option for you to work on your own project with guidance from the tutor.

Perspective and other drawing systems will enable visualisation of ideas.

What is the course about?

Using perspective as an aid to to creating depth and space in a drawing. This course will introduce students to the principles of perspective and enable you to employ them when creating perspective drawings of observed or imagined spaces and objects.Other drawing systems will also be explored, such as isometric and orthographic projection systems which will allow a greater understanding of drawing spaces and forms.

What will we cover?

-One and two point perspective
-Isometric and orthographic (3D views and plan views)
- Viewpoint and eye level.
-You will recap on basic perspective drawing systems and take your skills further by applying practical exercises to observed and imagined objects and spaces.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Appreciate the importance of the basic rules of perspective drawing
- Appreciate the importance and use of eye level
• Create a one point perspective drawing
• Create a two point perspective drawing.
-Gain practical understanding of perspective drawing systems
-Plan a perspective drawing
-Apply perspective drawing systems to an observed or imagined objects and spaces.
-Gain an understanding of orthographic and isometric.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is intended for beginners to perspective. Some experience of drawing would be helpful but not essential.

You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions, demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will be taught by demonstration, practical application, group discussion and one to one guidance.

Perspective skills are a very useful tool for all drawing and painting. You may wish to further develop your drawing or painting skills by joining one of our courses such as 'Drawing 1', 'Drawing 2', 'Painting 1 or ' Painting 2'.
