This course is intended to help you improve your Irish language skills and help you work towards an intermediate level. Building on foundations set in Irish 2 lower: module 1, students will explore a variety of topics, using a variety of tenses, with a continuing emphasis on the spoken language.

Feel comfortable using future tense to make plans and arrange travel.
Use an identify words and phrases around the topic of clothing and shopping.
Feel more confident in everyday casual conversation.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
You should have actively studied Irish for at least a year, or have an equivalent level. Students should have completed Irish 2 lower: module 1 or have equivalent experience. You should be familiar with the basic word order of Irish and know how to give and ask for simple personal information about the "here and now". You should also be able to ask for help in Irish when you don't understand.

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material. Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Sarah O'Donnell was raised as a native speaker in the Donegal Gaeltacht. Her education and interests are varied and include degrees in Dental Science and Natural science from Trinity College Dublin, a masters degree in medical law from Cardiff University and most recently, a postgraduate certificate in teaching the Irish language to adults from the Maynooth University. She is steeped in Irish culture, sings in Irish and plays traditional Irish music. Sarah welcomes the opportunity to share her love of her native language and culture with others.
