This short course offers youa chance to experience Italian language and culture in a relaxed and supportive setting. You will watch an Italian film and take part in an intermediate level language session with others who are also interested in Italian, providing you with a fun preview of what it’s like to learn a new language in a group setting.
What will we cover?
We'll be watching Pane e tulipani (Bread and Tulips), a wonderful romantic comedy about a woman who seeks a new life for herself in Venice.
After the film you will be taking part in an Italian taster class for beginner learners covering greetings, personal information, and Italian culture.
What will I achieve? By the end of this course you should be able to...
Revise some basic Italian (esp. talking about yourself and others)
Have an idea of which level course would suit you best
Gain an insight into the Italian language and culture
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
The film will be shown with English subtitles and introduced in English by one of our Italian tutors.
The taster class is for intermediate learners who are interested in returning to the study of Italian and want to check their level.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The film will be introduced by one of our Italian tutors who will provide some cultural background as well as highlight any interesting points of note about the film.
The language taster class will focus on interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material. No preparation is required.
