What is the course about?
You will learn to communicate more fully and fluently in a wider range of everyday situations and conversations. You will also strengthen the grammar points and adjectives you have already studied previously.
What will we cover?
Asking what you want exactly at various places. Saying your preference and reason. Saying your most preference, expressing the reason why you go / went to the various places, describing your lost property at the police station etc.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- making comparisons / singling out an item
- making comparisons / expressing the superlative degree
- making comparisons / expressions the comparative degree
- connected related sentences
- describing ongoing actions or states in effect
- expressing “going somewhere to do something”
- some basic kanji
- more adjectives and verbs
- all grammar patterns are related to Japanese Language Proficiency Test N5 ( JLPT N5).
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
You should have completed Japanese for Busy People book1 -revised edition 3 and and book 2 ( Lesson 1 ) or have an equivalent knowledge of the language and be fluent in Hiragana and Katakana. You can also find the chart at the start of the languages section in our course guide. You will also need to be able to respond to simple instructions and read course documents in English and be at ease with the use of number for daily activities (e.g. using money, telling the time, etc).
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
- active students’ interaction

- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate
Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.
