What is the course about?
On this course you will consolidate your knowledge of the structures of the Japanese language and work on more
complex grammatical structures and functions. You will develop the four linguistic skills with particular emphasis on
spoken / conversational Japanese.
The course enables you to be understood in a wide range of everyday situations. All language skills will be practised but there is a particular focus on speaking and listening. Lessons are interactive and include cultural information about Japan and Japanese society. This course is suitable for students who have studied Japanese for 5 years or equivalent.

What will we cover?
Tara: Talking about future events, making hypothetical statements, tekimashita: Describe a change in state
- tara - mashita: state the result of an action or event, kanji writing and reading.

-make if-statements, or when-statements
-express how things are changing
-understand everyday conversation
-understand information, advertisements, or leaflets containing Kanji
-familiarise yourself with Japan and Japanese culture.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
You should have completed Japanese for Busy People book 2 (L1- 11 ) and be able to read and write all Hiragana and Katakana characters, as well as some kanji (JPLT N5 level).
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Active student interaction
Emphasis on speaking and listening skills
Pair and group work, and discussion
Use of realia, pictures and authentic material
Use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate.
