What is the course about?
In this workshop you will learn a Japanese facial rejuvenation massage. This powerful yet gentle facial combines the benefits gained from ‘non-oil’ acupressure with ‘oil’ massage techniques.
What will we cover?
Practical bodywork techniques that relieve tension in the face and neck using:
- Correct application of acupressure on the face
- Correct application of oil massage techniques for the face
- Application of relevant techniques using a dry cloth
- How to work with stubble
- Contra-indications
- Client care.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- Identify relevant muscles and bones of the face
- Locate specific acupressure points on the face
- Complete a sequence using acupressure points
- Complete a sequence using oil and massage techniques.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
You will need to have completed a Level 3 qualification in Massage or Indian Head Massage (including anatomy and physiology). You will also need to have adequate literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Discussion, hand-outs, worksheets, lecture, practical demonstration, pair work, small and large group work, practical work.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
There are no other costs.
We will be using Bio Oil but if you have sensitive skin you may want to bring your own personal oil, suitable for use on the face.
Please wear suitable clothing for giving massage and suitable under-clothing such as a vest with thin straps to allow access to the neck and shoulders.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Jan has been a practising therapist for over fifteen years, and a tutor for ten years. She practises nutrition, holistic massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, Indian head massage, Thai yoga massage, Japanese facial rejuvenation and pregnancy massage. She currently teaches massage, reflexology, manual lymphatic drainage, facials, stone therapy, nutrition, and anatomy and physiology courses at City Lit and other London colleges. Jan is passionate about health and wellbeing. In her spare time, she enjoys increasing her holistic knowledge, cooking, playing tennis, travelling and theatre.
