On this course you will explore techniques used by professionals to produce effective props and get hands-on experience of sculpting, fabricating, mould making, casting and using a variety of paint effects. Learn about the demands of the industry from specialist tutors, and experience working to tight deadlines.

  2. Developing Art Practice year 2

    This is the second year of Developing Art Practice, designed for those developing and practicing artists who have completed the first year (or equivalent - ie another advanced contemporary practice course) and are interested in working and connecting with a widening group of their creative peer group. This course is about how to sustain and maintain a creative practice within a contemporary context.



    Work-based seminars facilitated by peers and artist-tutors present the opportunity to develop and present your ongoing work for critical discourse and to continue to develop a contemporary critical language.



    The course includes individual tutorials and mentoring, critical investigation via group crits, engaging with gallery practice and artist-run organisations and the potential for collaborative work and discussion and debate. This course will be delivered onsite.

Get to grips with some of the challenges you might encounter as a prop maker, from creatively interpreting a client's brief, working to a budget and meeting deadlines. Learn to problem solve and apply a range of techniques to bring a 3D design concept to fruition, getting a real insight into the prop making industry and its challenges.
