    This is the Level 1 ESOL Reading unit to give you confidence in reading straightforward and some complex texts for work, study and everyday life.     Do you want to develop counselling skills for paid or voluntary work? This course includes occasional weekend sessions which you will be required to join and one compulsory residential trip away.

    In order to apply for this course, please ensure that:
    • you have (or will have) completed an in person introductory counselling course of 30 hours, with an attendance record of at least 80% (within the last three years)
    OR
    • you have completed an in person introductory counselling course of 30 hours with an attendance record of at least 70%
    AND
    • you have completed an in person ‘Counselling introduction: advanced’ course (or equivalent) with an attendance record of at least 80% (within the last three years)
    • you are able to speak and write fluently in English (level 2/GCSE).

    English for deaf people: Getting started with vocabulary - part 1 (pre-entry - Entry 1)
    This course is suitable if you have recently arrived in the UK from abroad and/or missed out on the education at school due to communication barriers. This course will help you to develop your basic communication skills in various social settings such as starting, maintaining and ending the conversations, confirming your understanding of the conversation flow and/or ask for clarification if/when necessary, asking and answering questions on various social topics etc. You will develop your basic vocabulary linked to everyday life, spelling and punctuation.You will also develop basic study skills to help you to complete simple tasks and do homework on your own. This course has no exam. To be able to participate in this course, you will need to have basic BSL skills.

    This is the Level 2 ESOL Reading unit to help you become confident in understanding more complex written texts used in work, education, and daily life in the UK. This course supports you in reading a wide range of authentic texts and preparing for the ESOL Skills for Life Level 2 Reading exam, accredited by the English Speaking Board (ESB).
