This is an elementary Korean course for students who have already studied Korean for about 2 and a half years. The emphasis is on achieving a good level of communication and accuracy in speaking, listening, reading and writing and a deeper understanding of Korean culture.

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.

Jiyeon Kim is a certified Korean teacher, born and raised in South Korea, where she studied Political Science at university. Her teaching career began with yoga, but after moving to London in 2020, she transitioned to teaching Korean, discovering a deep passion for sharing the language and culture. This led her to pursue a degree in Teaching Korean to Foreigners, making her a certified instructor. Jiyeon believes that learning a language is deeply connected to understanding its culture. In her classes, she blends Korean grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation with cultural insights, creating a fun and immersive experience. With extensive experience, she has had the privilege of working with over 300 students from diverse backgrounds and different ages. Currently, she teaches at City Lit, where she finds meeting and teaching students incredibly rewarding. In addition to her teaching, Jiyeon runs social media channels that make learning Korean accessible and engaging. Passionate about helping her students succeed, she is dedicated to guiding them toward achieving their Korean language goals with confidence and success.

Heeyun has been a Korean teacher for 12 years. She was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. She majored in Korean Language and Literature for her BA in Seoul and completed her Korean teaching education training in 2009. She went on to teach at universities in China and Thailand after she obtained her Korean teaching certificate. Heeyun came to the UK in 2015 and studied at SOAS, University of London. She enjoys teaching Korean and has a lot of experience teaching groups and individuals from diverse backgrounds, age groups and ability levels. She also loves language learning herself and understands the difficulties students can face and how she can help students overcome them. She looks forward to meeting you and very much hopes you enjoy learning Korean at Citylit!
