Norwegian is a North Germanic language with around 5 million speakers in mainly Norway. There are also some speakers of Norwegian in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the UK, Spain, Canada and the USA. Its Native name is norsk [nɔʂk / nɔʁsk]. The Norwegian alphabet has 29 letters. As established by law and government policy, there are 2 official forms of written Norwegian:  Bokmål (literally "book tongue") and Nynorsk ("new Norwegian").

Due the Viking presence in England in the past, a lot of words we use now derived from the Old Norse making a lot of Norwegian words similar to Modern English ones such as glass (pronounces gloss)  or ski  (pronounced shee). More recently Norwegian drama have provided us with hours of entertainment.
