This Spanish Film Matinee is a chance to find out more about Spanish speaking cinema at the college. The film will be presented by one of our wonderful Spanish tutors and there will be a discussion afterwards.
The film we will be watching is También la lluvia, (2010), directed by Icíar Bollaín and starring Gabriel Garcia Bernal, Luis Tosar and Karra Elejada. Set in 2000, it tells the story of a Mexican filming crew who travel to Cochabamba, Bolivia, to shoot a film about Columbus and get entangled in the Cochabamba protests against the privatisation of water. Mixing fiction and real events, this acclaimed drama will be a great setting to discuss themes of imperialism and social justice, as well as to discover more about Latin American history in a larger sense.

How do I know my level?
Our beginner Spanish courses start at level 1, which is equivalent to Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) A1 Spanish. This means you can start this course with no prior knowledge of Spanish. After learning Spanish for beginners, you will be able to:
