Do take the plunge! I may have been critical on certain aspects but that is an entirely “on the day” matter. This is a great opportunity to learn a new skill or to rekindle a lost passion for painting.

From my perspective (even as a novice painter), this course was very limited in scope, and only covered a turpentine-type thinning agent and refined linseed oil. A variety of painting techniques (wet-in-wet, scumble, impasto...) were practiced but there was minimal information on how which other mediums might be used with these techniques, e.g. to speed up drying time, emphasise brush strokes, even out brush strokes. Unusually for a short course at City Lit, this class did not meet my expectations.
