Health care is the treatment of health and medical conditions in hosptials, health centres and in the community and social care is the care and support of vulnerable people. The Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care will provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of the core areas in health and social care. This is ideal for those who are interested in health and social care and wish to gain a formal qualification.

This course is FREE if you are employed and earn less than £20,572.50 . You need to have lived in the UK or EU for the last 3 years and be a citizen of the UK or a country within the EU. You may also be eligible for this funding in other circumstances. When you come for assessment or enrolment, bring a pay slip dated within 3 months of the course start date, or a current employment contract that shows your gross salary.

What is the course about?

This course is about the health and social care sector, including hospitals, care homes, and community centres. The course is about the skills and knowledge needed to work in health and social care for example, safeguarding.

What will we cover?

The Level 2 certificate covers three madatory units:
Equality diversity and rights in health and social care
Human growth and development
Safeguarding and protection in health and social care.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

By the end of the course, learners will be equipped with knowledge and uderstanding across a range of key subject areas. This includes, equality, diversity and rights, human growth and development and the roles and responsibilities of the health and social care worker.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a level 2 course. No previous experience is required, but you will need to take a literacy quiz to ascertain your literacy level. We encourage applications for learners with lived experience in homelessness, drug and alcohol addiction and mental health.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Classes will use a variety of teaching methods, including discussions, presentations, group work, role play and lecture style classes.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

There are no extra costs. We do recommend you bring a pen and note pad to lessons.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

When you have finished you may be able to progress onto one of our other level 2 courses like youth work, information, advice or guidance, mental health or peer mentoring. You may also look at support roles in health and social care settings and voluntary organisations.
