Introducing a variety of methods for inspiring an innovative and exploratory approach to life drawing. Discover the value of both analytical and experimental approaches and the relationship between them in the drawing process. Learn to explore the role of spontaneity, perception and empathy in creating drawings that express 'aliveness' and a sense of meaning. This course is ideal as a companion to more formal drawing courses and is suitable for enthusiastic beginners as well as those with experience in drawing who wish to refresh their practice or stimulate new ways of working.

The course will explore a variety of approaches to the life model
mark-making to convey atmosphere
dynamic drawing techniques
quick sketching of figure in movement
mixed-media materials and techniques eg clayslip, wire-drawing etc
collaborative work
how to explore the notion of 'making mistakes' and 'letting go of control'

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is suitable for all levels but some previous drawing experience would be an advantage.

Practical tasks, demonstration, 1:1 support and group discussion. Self-reflection is an important part of learning in art education and creative practice. You will be encouraged to engage with reflecting on your own work and progress as part of the learning process in Visual Arts
