For those who would like to extend their use of Logic Pro to realise their recording and production skills. We'll cover comping, sidechaining, parallel compression, flextime and more to give you the ability to realise more professional recordings and get the most out of this exceptional music production software. Description

What is the course about?

Extending your use of Logic beyond the basics. You'll learn advanced features of the program allowing you to make timing changes, 'comp' together that perfect take and even entirely change the individual sounds on a drum track. And just as importantly, you'll learn how to use advanced studio techniques to get your mixes sounding great.

What will we cover?

The ESX24 sampler and its functions
Flextime
Multiple takes: the Take folder
drum Replacement
parallel compression
sidechaining and gating
multiple outputs
Using busse.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Create your own patches using the ESX24 sampler
Use Flextime to correct or manipulate the timing of recorded audio tracks
Edit and compile a single take from multiple recordings of a performance
Substitute new drum sounds from a recorded drum track
Perform the technique of Parallel Compression to thicken chosen tracks
Perform the technique of Sidechaining and gating to enhance mixes
Assign VST Instruments to multiple outputs to better control tracks in a mix
Use Busses to group multiple tracks together and use effects sends.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an advanced course aimed at those who already know how to use Logic.
You will need to be able follow written and verbal instructions in English, engage in class discussions and take notes in English.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Classes will generally begin with a demonstration and discussion followed by practical work.
You will work on an individual Mac workstation to practise set themes, techniques and skills, applying these to your developing ideas and material.
You will present your work in progress regularly to the group, and receive feedback, support and encouragement from your tutor throughout the course.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Notepad, pen, own memory stick/storage device for saving work.
