What is the course about?

This course will look at the impact and consequences of London's involvement in war and conflict throughout the centuries. We will be exploring London through a series of guided walks, examining the legacy of war and unrest on the capital, seeing how conflict and war has shaped our modern city and made it the city it is today.

By the end of this course you should be able to...

Explain some of the stories behind the monuments, memorials and buildings we see everyday in London.
Appreciate London's militiary past.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Accessible to all levels - no particular skills required - ability to complete a 2 hour gentle paced walk every week.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

An initial zoom lecture followed by a series of guided walks in various parts of London.
Comprehensive materials and further study suggestions.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

No - optional visits to other sites and museums mentioned but not visited on the course.
