Our art and design long courses are designed to give you the skills and knowledge needed to become a skilled artist or designer who is confident in their ability.

By learning through a range of methods including practical assignments, workshops, group work, discussions and even trips to exhibitions and galleries, you will gain a clear insight into the exciting and ever-changing industry of design which can help you progress to university or into employment.

  1. Ceramics portfolio course

    Build an individual fine art practice by exploring painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media and contextual studies in a series of structured projects. You will be expected to keep up with current exhibitions in London. Group tutorials will help you adopt an independent and experimental approach to your work. The course can be taken for personal development or act as a bridge between adult short courses and entry to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. This course runs Thursday evenings 18:00–21:00 and every other Saturday 10:00–17:00. Details of Saturday dates will be given at interview.

    You will pursue a more individual route, resulting in a body of work reflecting your own concerns. You will have one-to-one tutorials and will learn a range of skills from practising artists. Basic materials included. This course runs Thursday evenings 18:00–21:00 and every other Saturday 10:00–17:00. Details of Saturday dates will be given at interview.

  5. City Lit basketry course: advanced

    For learners experienced in a wide range of basketry techniques, this is a new course to build develop your skills. You will be introduced to some new techniques and emphasis will be placed on self directed study and developing a personal portfolio of work. This course is suitable for those experienced in a wide range of basketry techniques and who have completed the City Lit basketry course or have equivalent skills. These will be discussed at a pre-enrolment interview.

  6. Contemporary practice: personal project
