Description

What is the course about?

This course is about having an open space that provides opportunity to meet with other people who stammer and discuss issues and topics of importance.

What will we cover?

The agenda for the sessions will be very much led by the group of students attending. Possible topics could include stammering and work, dealing with difficult feelings, managing the variability of stammering but these will be fluid discussions that could move in a number of directions.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Feel that you have had opportunity to discuss the stammering related issues that are most important to you
Have gained from the opportunity to listen to others’ and their experiences
Feel clearer about what steps you might want to take next in living with stammering.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a course for people who stammer. You will probably already have had some speech therapy but the course is open to anyone who would like the space to discuss stammering.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Discussions will be facilitated. There will be opportunity to work in smaller groups as well as the whole class. Students are encouraged to research and consider which topics they may wish to bring to the group for discussion.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

None.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

For those who also stammer, you can do a Stage 1 evening course or one of our intensive courses if you haven't
attended one previously. Alternatively you can do any of our Stage 2 courses including topic-based workshops.
