What is the course about?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a type of detox therapy that uses very gentle movements and massage techniques to drain excess fluid from the body and improve the overall functioning of the lymphatic (immune) system. On this course you will learn how to apply MLD techniques to the face and neck that will aid the removal of toxins and excess fluids by unblocking blocked lymphatic channels.

-Contractindication to MLD
-Basic overview of the history
-Basic overview of the lymphatic system.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

-Apply basic MLD techniques
-Provide a facial detox routine using MLD techniques
-Identify some contraindications to MLD.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is suitable for all; no prior experience is necessary.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

- Presentation and demonstrations by the tutor, practical work, pair work, question and answer.

Janet Whitehead

Jan has been a practising therapist for over fifteen years, and a tutor for ten years. She practises nutrition, holistic massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, Indian head massage, Thai yoga massage, Japanese facial rejuvenation and pregnancy massage. She currently teaches massage, reflexology, manual lymphatic drainage, facials, stone therapy, nutrition, and anatomy and physiology courses at City Lit and other London colleges. Jan is passionate about health and wellbeing. In her spare time, she enjoys increasing her holistic knowledge, cooking, playing tennis, travelling and theatre.
