It explores traditional formal photography, lightly directed natural imagery, and documentary-style reportage, while also addressing professional conduct, legal responsibilities, and client management within the wedding industry.

What will we cover?

The course is structured across three days and covers:

  • Understanding the wedding day timeline and working efficiently under pressure
  • Traditional formal wedding photography, including posing and group management
  • Lightly directed photography to create natural, relaxed images
  • Camera settings, lighting, and lens selection for varied environments
  • Reportage wedding photography and documentary storytelling
  • Shooting unobtrusively while capturing key moments
  • Bride and Groom feature shots and couple portraits
  • Building a cohesive visual narrative across the wedding day
  • Legal responsibilities, contracts, and image usage rights
  • Client communication, delivery expectations, and professional presentation

What will I achieve?

  • Capture natural and compelling Bride and Groom feature shots
  • Manage a wedding day professionally from preparation through to delivery
  • Understand and apply essential legal and contractual protections
  • Deliver a consistent and professional wedding photography service

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is aimed at beginner to intermediate photographers who are entering the wedding industry or looking to refine their workflow and professional approach. Learners should be comfortable using their camera, but no prior wedding photography experience is required.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Teaching is delivered through structured, tutor-led sessions combining technical instruction, creative guidance, and professional discussion. The course is practical and intensive, focusing on real-world wedding photography scenarios. Some independent practice and reflection may be encouraged outside the taught sessions to support skill development.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Learners will need access to their own photography equipment suitable for wedding photography, including a camera with manual controls. Additional costs may include personal equipment, software, or materials required for professional practice, though no extra equipment is mandatory.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

The natural progression might be either Documentary Photography, Portraits and People Photography, Lightroom or Photoshop.
