Description

What is the course about?

Many studies have shown that the ancient Buddhist techniques of mindfulness can help people who feel that their lives are out of control, or that they are too busy to really savour their lives. Mindfulness has also been found to be effective in dismantling ‘bad or sad’ moods, and helpful in controlling overwhelming feelings. This course is based around meditation and practical techniques for developing mindfulness and awareness.

What will we cover?

A variety of meditation techniques from the Buddhist tradition will be practised, including sitting and mindfulness in movement. The main focus is the body, thoughts, feelings and communication, but the course is also concerned with specific applications of mindfulness such as walking, listening and eating. Students are expected to commit to practising between classes.
