This course is an introduction to the principles and techniques of myofascial release (MFR). MFR is a gentle, hands-on therapy that uses sustained pressure to release restrictions in the fascia, the connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs. MFR can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including pain, stiffness, and restricted range of motion.
What will we cover?
- Introduction to fascia and the science of MFR - MFR techniques - Introduction to palpation and holds - Working using palmar, forearm and fingertip holds - Use and importance of posture and breath.
What will I achieve? By the end of this course you should be able to...
- Demonstrate the correct MFR holds - Understand the anatomy and physiology of fascia - Explain the principles of MFR - Perform basic MFR techniques - Apply MFR to treat a variety of muscle groups and areas of the body.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Post Graduate/CPD. You will need to have completed a Level 3 qualification in massage (including anatomy and physiology). You will also need to have sufficient literacy, numeracy and ICT skills, to Level 2 or equivalent.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Presentation, practical demonstration, pair work, small and large group work, practical work, and home practice. This is a two day CPD course.

I joined this marvellous industry back in 2004 when I started my training in Swedish massage. At first I was doing it as my 'back up' career as I wanted to be an actor. But before I knew it, I'd fallen in love with holistic therapy and well-being and now it has been my full time career for almost twenty years! After catching 'the bug', I trained in Indian head massage, reflexology, facials, reiki, deep tissue, hot stone and lymphatic drainage massage. The list goes on! I keep adding new qualifications to my extensive repertoire every year as I think its important not to become stagnant and to keep learning. As the old adage goes, "KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!" And there's nothing more powerful than complementary medicine. As well as teaching, I currently run my own mobile therapy business and it makes me feel old that I've been treating some of my clients for over fifteen years. I love nothing more than seeing the joy on a client's face after every single treatment. I can't wait to see you on a course in the future. I just love passing on my knowledge and passion to the therapists of the future!
