The NADA Protocol is an ear acupuncture system originally developed to support recovery from addiction. The process involves the gentle insertion of five sterile needles into specific energetic points in the outer ear. This course will teach you the preparation and safe techniques to administer the protocol with clients within healthcare and community settings.

• Become a certified NADA Protocol practitioner • Understand the origins and safe application of the protocol in a variety of settings • Explain the five points, their location on the ear and purpose • Give a safe and effective treatment • Explain the interdependence of the body systems • Use practical and theoretical skills to provide an adapted treatment • Take a client consultation and gather the necessary information to provide a client-specific treatment and aftercare – enhanced interpersonal skills and communication • Recognise when not to massage (knowledge of contra indications) • Understand the concept of contra actions • Compare and differentiate between the different complementary therapies • Have an enhanced understanding of good record keeping and risk assessing Have a good working knowledge of the regulations and legislation to safeguard and implement health and safety within a complementary practice. • How complementary therapists look after themselves and self-reflection • Working with other professionals in a work-based setting.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is a stand-alone four-day course certified by NADA GB. You will need to have sufficient literacy, numeracy and ICT skills to complete assignments to the required standard. If you are unsure whether you meet the required standard, please contact the department on Health@citylit.ac.uk.

Farrah has been working in the field of wellbeing since 2012 as a qualified complementary therapist, specialising in the treatment of clients with life limiting conditions at St Barts and Guy’s hospitals. She is also the Lead Therapist at St Joseph's Hospice. Farrah is passionate about promoting the accessibility of services that combine high professional standards and compassion, to the public. She currently teaches massage, reflexology and pregnancy massage at City Lit, and her heart lies in sharing with her students the joy of self-discovery through wellbeing. Farrah maintains a private practice in East London and is the creator of HypnoBody TM.
