What is the course about?

A fun and intensive weekend course about how to bring storytelling to life. The focus is on factual narration for podcasts and documentary, but the vocal skills you will learn can be used across other voice work such as e-learning, audio books, technical narration and explainer videos. You’ll learn how to bring a written script to life with your voice and deliver to specific audiences. It’s not just about how you use your voice, it's about the script, technical vocal skills and connecting with the listener. The course will be delivered in the media studio.

By the end of this course you should be able to...

Identify that narration skills are about so much more than just the voice.
Explain what the communication is trying to achieve
Set the right speed and tone to match the emotional quality.
Make the narration three-dimensional.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You should ideally have previous experience or taken classes in Voiceovers; Radio Presenting or other media courses.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The tutor will support you over the weekend and there may be preparation to do at home before the second day.
