What is the course about?
This is a fun and intensive course about the wonderful world of narration. You’ll learn how to narrate a wide variety of projects, how to create just the right ‘inner landscape’ to engage with your intended audience and lots of tips for breaking into this vast area of voiceover.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
You should ideally have previous experience or taken classes in Voiceovers; Radio Presenting or other media courses.

Dian Perry is a seasoned voice actor, teacher, voiceover coach and author from the US based in the UK. She has been a tutor at City Lit since 2011, and currently teaches Character voice for animation, stage and screen, and Narration skills. Dian has taught voiceover performance at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Staffordshire University, The Showreel, The VoiceOver Network, CSVPA and Collins Performing Arts, and in Latvia for the Riga International Film Festival. She conducts one-to-one coaching sessions from her studio in East London and also online with students in the UK and abroad. She brings a wealth of experience, accumulated wisdom and a wicked sense of humour to all of her teaching. Her courses and workshops are memorable and great fun. As a voice actor for over two decades, her work has been heard on television, radio, video games, in soft toys, animation series and films worldwide. She has worked on countless commercials, narration projects, telephone systems and, if you own an older Honda in the States, you may hear her telling you where to turn. Dian’s first book 'Voiceover Narration: Creating Performances from the Inside Out' will be out in Autumn 2021.
