  3. Creative approaches to visual research and problem solving

  4. Selves, persons, and agents

  5. Sewn boards and drum leaf bindings for book arts

    These book forms are great for making artists’ books and books with content, as they both open flat with little or no restriction at the spine fold. Come and make some models to experiment with, or bring some artwork with you and use this to produce two versatile and creative structures. Some experience of sewing multi-section books will be helpful.

  6. Reading for writers: feminist fiction (a fortnightly course)

    The landscape of feminist fiction is rich and multifaceted. In this course we'll explore just a small fragment to learn what lessons authors of feminist works can teach budding writers of fiction. We'll read novels by Doris Lessing, Bernardine Evaristo, Mieko Kawakami, and more. We'll analyse, discuss, and use these works to inspire and develop our own fiction. You will need to come to the first class having read the short works 'Woman at Point Zero' by Nawal El Saadawi, 'The Yellow Wallpaper' by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

  7. Ukulele Concert Band

    You’ve had your uke for a while, been to jams in the pub, attended some ukulele courses, but what now? Join City Lit Ukulele Concert Band! Over 10 weeks we aim to transform your uke 'chops' and enthusiastic singing into a gigging band. On this course you will learn skills of band playing, have fun, and improve your techniques on uke and voice, playing and singing music from Lonnie Donnegan to Kylie Minogue with everything in between. The course culminates in a performance on 27 March.

  8. Illustration projects 1

    Come on an image-making illustrative journey where you will explore a variety of media, techniques and processes. Through exercises, workshops and set briefs you will discover your unique voice and learn how to express it through image. Illustration project will enable you to start positioning your work in the context of industry and learning how to engage with it. This course is suitable for anyone who enjoys the process of making imagery. There is no right or wrong, just your way.

  9. Experimental filmaking: stage 2
