What is the course about?
Learn the basics of Norwegian to help you understand the Norwegian culture for the exhibition at the British Museum.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
Basic introduction (name, what you do, where you are from and where you live), basic routine and activities, short introduction to Artic Norway this days.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
-Give and request personal information (name, number, email)
-Talk about countries and nationalities
-Basic introduction to family
-Use numbers in a variety of context (date, time…)
-Talk about a basic routine
-Talk about winter activities and summer activities
-Basic inputs / presentations about the Artic circle in today's Norway.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is suitable if you are a complete beginner.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Classroom activities will follow the traditional approach but will aim at a high level of student interaction with pair and group work using Zoom. Students are expected to participate in the activities and to do homework every week.
This course will be delivered online, and will involve tutor presentation and class discussion. Student preparation and homework outside class times is strongly encouraged. To fully participate in this online class you will need:
- An email address
- A reliable internet connection
- A computer/laptop/tablet with a fully updated browser (preferably google chrome). Your device will need a microphone, and preferably a camera.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
Resources and handouts will be provided by the tutor through Google classroom.
