City Lit offers performing arts courses in the heart of Covent Garden in Central London during the evening, daytime and at weekends. We offer a range of long and short courses allowing you to choose between in-person and online learning.

Learn in the centre of London with our in-person courses. Our purpose-built facilities in Covent Garden mean we are ideally located and easy to get to.

  1. Exploring the music of Gustav Holst

    Composer, teacher, trombonist… Gustav Holst is known above all for his orchestral suite The Planets, premiered in 1918. But this intriguing musician was also profoundly interested in Hindu literature and philosophy, early British music, English folksong and Wagner. This course provides a brief introduction to his life and career.

    This short course offers you the opportunity to get introduced to pointe work at a pace that allows you to understand how to execute the basic exercises correctly. Working with correct alignment and safely are a focal point and to address any issues and concerns you may have. To get the most out of this course you should have attended regular ballet classes for at least 6 to 12 months.

    From the sound you phone makes to wake you up in the morning to pop, club music and concert music – electronic music is everywhere an available to everyone. This course tells the story of electronic music from computers as big as rooms in the WDR studios in Cologne to GarageBand on your iphone and the music that was made along the way.
