This course aims to give you a basic understanding of Contemporary dance that is influenced by other styles. The course provides an understanding of the basic principles, techniques and style.

This course will be taught in the college and is a particularly good introduction for those starting regular Voice classes on the Foundation in Drama course.

The Charleston is a fun, easy and uplifting dance and this solo dancing course will have you moving with speed, vitality, and expression. With toe tapping Jazz music from the 1920s and beyond you will learn original Charleston dance steps and moves, improve your musicality and improvisation. A great way to get fit whilst learning a unique and impressive new skill.

A dynamic and vibrant class that combines West African dance and music with some Contemporary dance influences. The movements, energy and music will leave you energised and rejuvenated.

Having an awareness of space and presence and utilising the body to help carve engaging, full-born characters is vital in theatre, whether this be during improvisation, delivering a monologue or throughout the process of a performance. It's important to have the tools to do this!



This course aims to give every member an introductory “toolkit” you can take away with you, freeing your body, exploring character technique, enhancing your improvisational and performance intuition and becoming confident in your craft.

Investigate the role and function of Dramatherapy as a working model on this introductory course. Looking at a range of drama tools that can be used in therapeutic settings, you will develop some of the essential skills and use a range of methods to engage with others. Fun and insightful and packed with tools you can use, this is a great introduction to applying theatrical processes to therapy.

This series of classes led by Francis Angol and Orley Quick, will explore different approaches to the practice of Contemporary dance, working through different styles and techniques. Each session has been designed to give students an understanding of the fundamental principle and techniques of each approach taken. Working through fundamentals of movement, properties and the stylistic features of form.







By the end of the course, we hope you will have gained greater confidence, knowledge and appreciation of Contemporary Dance practice and be able to differentiate between the various styles and technique you may encounter.

If you enjoy vintage social dancing events but prefer solo dancing then this course is for you! Learn or improve your basic footwork sequences and steps of original social dances. Starting with easy to follow Strolls we progress to faster pace flick kicks and turns. Variations of steps and moves will be given to suit all levels of beginner.

This course is perfect for those who are new to Ballroom dance or looking to brush up on existing skills. Taught in a friendly and supportive atmosphere you will learn the basic steps and techniques of both Ballroom and Latin dance. No partner is required to join the course. You will perform with different members of the class, acquire some great dance knowledge and with the added benefit of feeling healthier! The is no class on Saturday 30th September.

This course is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced students wishing to revise the basics and learn fresh choreographies. Performance opportunities throughout the year. Jacques Lecoq’s style of theatre training is in the body, it involves exploration of ourselves and the world we live in with a sense of curious play. Lecoq revolutionised the format of theatre craft and his style and techniques are recognised as essential tools to any professional working actor, in its most basic or grandest of themes. It is a style that hugs you warmly and sticks with you, adaptable and diverse.



The Lecoq technique is about the performers engagement, listening physically and their connection in the space, working together as an ensemble, devising your own work and finding new ways to do it are essential.

Venture back to Vintage dance styles! As the solo dance of the Swing family, Authentic Jazz is a blanket term for a number of popular dances from the 1920s and 1930s – the Charleston, Black Bottom, Shimmy, Suzie-Q and many more. Danced to Jazz and Swing music, and like the other styles of the same family, it is energetic and playful. Ideal for confident beginners and those with some prior knowledge.
