Guys and Dolls - the iconic musical from 1950 and the1955 film starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra contains some of the most memorable repertoire from the 20th century musical theatre catalogue. Come and explore the highlights in several variations (solos, duets and ensemble numbers) at our friendly weekend workshop. "Fugue for Tinhorns", "I'll know", "A Bushel and a Peck", "Adelaide's Lament", "If I were a Bell", "Luck be a Lady" and " Sit Down you're Rocking the Boat"are just some of the classic songs covered. This course aims to give you a basic understanding of Contemporary dance that is influenced by other styles. The course provides an understanding of the basic principles, techniques and style.

We will work on foot-work sequences and steps of authentic jazz dancing and Rhythm & Blues Strolls, progressing to faster pace flick kicks and turns for jive and Rock ’n' Roll dances. No partner required! This is a general level course suitable for beginners and improvers.

Spend three days exploring and rehearsing scenes from a modern play with an experienced theatre director, sharing a work-in-progress performance in the final afternoon.

No experience is needed for this short intensive course however an openness to explore and to develop text and physical performance simultaneously is necessary.

This enormous and lucrative area of the voiceover world includes e-learning, documentaries, audio books, medical/technical narration, explainer videos and more. You’ll learn how to deliver great reads from the inside out. It’s not just about the sound of your voice! This course will be delivered in the media studio.

Investigate the role and function of drama therapy as a working model on this 2 day intensive course. Looking at a range of drama tools that can be used in therapeutic settings, you will explore aspects of Playback Theatre and Forum Theatre as well as a classic Dramatherapy Story Enactment where we will include the Jungian Archetypes.as methods for engaging with others. Fun, insightful and packed with tools you can use, for applying the theatrical processes to therapy.

Study how to improvise in popular music. These practical sessions are for competent players of any instrument. Get to grips with improvisation in this exploration of common scales and approaches to improv in pop, rock, blues, folk and jazz. We’ll look at blues scales, pentatonics, extensions and more to help you get the most out of your improvisation.

Enjoy playing and improvising on familiar and new jazz repertoire in a mixed ensemble. For players with substantial experience of jazz playing, ear training techniques and harmony study. Tunes will be announced in advance of the course. Rhythm section places are limited, so please check vacancies with the music department.
