Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, this choral class will give you something to look forward to on a Monday. We sing many genres from musical theatre to pop plus more traditional pieces. This course is very popular, so booking early is essential. Break weeks: 6 & 27 May 2024.

This is a practical and intensive screen acting course, designed for students to learn how to create characters and be at their best when working within difficult and pressurised circumstances. Ideal for those who have previously studied screen acting and are planning to make the leap into finding work. Also for those who have already broken into the industry but want to make sure they’re at their best when on set.

Explore Mozart’s operas from Bastien und Bastienne (1768) to Idomeneo, re di Creta (1780-81). Discover the stories and the music of these youthful works and learn about Mozart’s early biography. Break week: 28 Oct 2024.

Learn more complex elements of music: figured bass, melodic and harmonic decoration, writing for instrument or voice with given accompaniment, and score analysis of both harmonic and phrase structure, style, performance and directions. Break weeks: 23 March, 1, 8 15 April 2024 and 27 May 2024.

Develop your jazz musicianship, repertoire, playing and improvising. Practise ear training, study jazz harmony, learn challenging repertoire. For players with established jazz education at foundation level. Assessment for entry to this course can be arranged after you apply to music@citylit.ac.uk. Break week: 29th October.

For pianists with around three years' experience. Improve your finger technique, coordination, phrasing, music



reading, and your confidence.

If you play piano at around grade 7 standard, join one of these lively workshops to develop your playing by studying a wide range of piano repertoire, with a focus on technique, tone production, pedalling and performance skills.

Trace the development of keyboard instruments and their repertoire from Bach’s Goldberg Variations to the late works of Brahms. Explore the composers and makers who shaped the keyboard into one of the most versatile and popular instruments of all time, and learn about history, style, genre and function through guided listening and score reading. Break week: 31 October 2024.

A workshop class for singers with a solid foundation in vocal technique and musicianship: employ your vocal technique in a more flexible and artistic way and deepen your understanding of critical evaluation of singing. Repertoire to be discussed with the tutor. Break week 3oth May.

Practise and develop your acting skills by rehearsing scenes in detail. Engage with the fundamentals of performance in front of a live invited audience in our John Lyons Theatre in the final session.

Discover the pleasure of playing in small, mixed instrumental ensembles, one per part, in a variety of repertoire. For classical instrumentalists at grade 5/6 or above. Due to the demanding nature of most piano parts, pianists should play at Grade 8 level or higher. Good sight reading skills and experience in chamber music are required. Break week 23rd May.

An exciting and rigorous one-year part-time training in the core disciplines of acting. Taught by industry professionals, this course will build your craft as an actor and is ideal for anyone intending to enter full time training at drama school.



The course fee is £2225, plus an upfront fee of £525 payable at the time of your enrolment.



If you are unable to pay the course fee upfront, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) to help cover the cost. Fats Waller copyrighted over 400 songs, wrote many more, and this new course will guide you through several and prepare you to perform his memorable work. For singers with enthusiasm for and experience in the jazz idiom and newcomers to jazz are also welcome to join. no class on 15th October.
