Description

What is the course about?

This course will show you how to use Adobe Portfolio to create your own website. Learn how to plan your website, select and optimise images as well as design and create pages using the free software included with the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.

What will we cover?

- Creating a content hierarchy for your website
- Selecting and optimising your images
- Editing the order of your images
- Entering and editing text pages
- Google Analytics and search engine optimisation (SEO) tools.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Use Adobe Portfolio to create an internet-ready website
- Select images and text and create a website hierarchy
- Import images using Adobe Lightroom
- Populate your website with visual and text content
- Take your website live.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an intermediate course for photographers who are comfortable with using a computer. This course uses Adobe Portfolio software which is part of the Adobe Creative Cloud. Some previous experience of Adobe Lightroom would help you get the most from the course.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will be taught using a range of techniques including workshops, short lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, tutorials, group and individual assistance and hand-outs. Please note the City Lit uses Apple Mac computers in Photography.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You will be supplied with some test images, but as the goal of the course is to create your own website, students can bring their own project pictures (we recommended 10-40 images) to class to ensure a more immersive experience.
Please bring your pictures to class on a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note: PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple Mac computers, but not written to.)
Adobe Portfolio software is included in the Photography Plan of the Adobe Creative Cloud or can be obtained by separate subscription as detailed on the Adobe website.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

The City lit has over seventy different practical and theoretical photography courses.
You can search on the web site or request a printed prospectus from the City Lit home page.
