What is the course about?

This course provides a detailed introduction into some of the key features of Power BI. You will learn how to import and transform data and create and share dynamic reports and interactive dashboards. You will also have the opportunity to complete your own project.

Please note that Microsoft Power BI Desktop works on Windows operating system only and it’s currently not supported on Mac OS.

Participants who will attend the full course will receive a City Lit certificate of attendance electronically for their CV or CPD records. The certificate will show your name, course title and dates of the course you have attended.

  • Transforming data using Power Query in Power BI
  • Creating dynamic reports

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is aimed at beginners. Prior experience in using Excel would be useful, but not compulsory.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course will contain demonstrations of the key features of Power BI, which students will follow. Students will then complete a hands-on project to create their own reports and dashboards using Power BI. There will be no work outside of class.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

There are no other costs and computers with all of the required installations will be provided. You are encouraged to bring a pen and paper to take notes.You may choose to bring your own laptop if you prefer.

Ergi Mira

Ergi Mira is a London-based software engineer and tutor specialising in artificial intelligence, computer vision, and data-driven systems. He holds a BEng (Hons) in Software Engineering from the University of Greenwich, graduating with First-Class Honours and receiving the Best Project Award for his work on embedded real-time AI systems. Ergi’s background combines academic research with industry practice. He has worked as a Software Consultant and IT Service Desk Analyst, developing intelligent software across automation, IoT, and data analytics. His projects include FastAPI/React applications, network-monitoring agents, and AI-driven predictive systems deployed on the edge using Raspberry Pi and Hailo accelerators. At City Lit, Ergi focuses on applying AI in real-world contexts such as healthcare, sustainability, and creative technology. He teaches courses in Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision, Python for Automation, and Data Analysis, blending live coding, guided labs, and project-based learning to help students transform theory into practical, impactful applications.
