This intensive course will prepare you for the 'Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (DELE) at level B2. Ideal if you would like to live, study or work in a Spanish-speaking country, or are simply looking to challenge yourself. 

Please note that you should have studied Spanish for about 5 years.

What is the course about?

This course will enable you to develop and master the 4 skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) and prepare you to sit the DELE B2 exam.

Please note that the exams will be held at the Instituto Cervantes, to whom the exam fees should be paid.

Term 1: 08.10.26 - 03.12.26 / Term 2: 14.01.27 - 04.02.27

Mock exam date: 23/01/27

What will we cover?

Week 1 – presentation of exam / diagnostic

Week 2 – 3: Topic 1 - Talking about yourself and other people, emotions, relationships, making plans, comparing

Week 4 – 5: Topic 2 – health, opinions, experiences, shops and restaurants

Week 6 – 7: Topic 3 – Work, education, argumentation

Week 8 – 9: Topic 4 – Information and the media, politics, business, environment

Christmas break

Week 10 – 11: Topic 5 – Free time, leisure, travel

Saturday of week 11 (23/01): Written Mock Exam

Week 12 – oral mock exam + feedback session and correction of written mock exam

Week 13 – last questions, last feedback, last practice  

 

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- analyse newspaper articles or other type of documents (informative or argumentative)
- express opinions using different registers of the language
- express personal views using the appropriate register through formal letters, critical article, contribution to a debate, etc.
- write and master complex grammar, vocabulary, etc.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

You should have studied Spanish for about 5 or 6 years.
You should have a good knowledge of grammar as well as good fluency. It is also essential that you have knowledge of more complex grammar terminology such as: the past tenses, the future tense, the subjunctive, the conditional, pronouns.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Students will be required to complete homework on a regular basis.

Amaia Ibargüen

Amaia is a Spanish teacher from the Basque country in Spain. She grew up in Mondragón and studied in San Sebastián and Bilbao where she completed a teaching degree at university. She has always been interested in teaching and, as well as her work in adult education, she has experience teaching at universities and companies. Amaia has Qualified Teacher Status in England and has taught Spanish at all levels. She has a keen interest in exploring those areas of the language that her students find difficult. She takes great pleasure in seeing how her students progress in the language, in their motivation and dedication, and in the dialogue that takes place among adults in the context of the classroom.
