Explore some contrasting riverside districts from East To West. Former docks, industrial archaeology, beautiful 18th century terraces of houses, rowing clubs, breathtaking views, historic pubs and churches, luxury penthouses, parks and gardens all feature. Places visited include Richmond, Putney, Wapping, Limehouse, Barnes, Chiswick, Lambeth, The City and Battersea.

Identify some contrasting riverside districts and have better knowledge of their history and topography.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Suitable for anyone interested in London history. Should be able to undertake a two hour walking tour at a moderate pace.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

ne lecture in the classroom and 9 walking tours. Handouts, discussion, talks by the tutor.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Suitable clothes for the time of year, comfortable walking shoes and an umbrella in case of rain.
