The aim of the course is to read as widely as possible in the different genres of Sanskrit literature: philosophy, theology, prayers, poems, histories, narratives and more.
What will we cover?
This term we will be looking at some hymns from the Veda, the earliest literature in India, and the wellspring of both Hinduism and Buddhism.

You will need a reasonable grasp of the Sanskrit language, though the group will welcome different levels of expertise and experience.

Students will prepare passages in advance of class and then we we will read and translate together.

Vaughan Pilikian is an artist, writer and teacher. He has degrees in Classics, Sanskrit and Assyriology.
