Description

What is the course about?

The skills and disciplines required to develop as a screen actor. We’ll be starting to combine the technical disciplines with script and character work. The course will give students a practical understanding of what this entails.

What will we cover?

• Scene work
• Working effectively with the director and fellow actors
• Hitting your mark
• reverses
• physical continuity.

Please note that acting classes by their very nature can involve exercises and the exploration of material that some students may find challenging.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Play a character confidently on camera while adhering to the technical disciplines required for acting on screen.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Ideally students will have taken the initial screen acting beginners course so are familiar with the inherent disciplines such as ‘hitting marks’ and ‘continuity’, alternatively the students should have at least a basic understanding of these disciplines.

In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Listen and respond to instructions and feedback.
• Communicate clearly in discussion and drama practice.
• Read and respond to a variety of text.
• Give and receive constructive feedback.
• Take notes.
• Work within groups and pairs safely.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

In pairs and small groups.
As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Comfortable clothing should be worn. .

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Continue to build confidence with another Screen Acting: improvers or the advanced class if appropriate. You may also want to consider a course in Stanislavski and or Method Acting.

Enrol now! This class has far exceeded my expectations, I've learnt so much and made some great new friends too. Before the class I wasn't confident about going for film or tv work, but now I feel like I've got a number of new skills under my belt and am much better prepared.

This course has been brilliant. I have found it challenging and enjoyable. The tutor made me feel welcome and included. He used examples from his own experience in the acting Industry, which has really helped to prepare me for what to expect in the upcoming months as I go out looking for work. The use of a professional camera man made the experience far more realistic. I would recommend this course to all who have a desire to learn, to perform on set and to gain a better understanding of the industry.
