The helper’s role calls for more than two listening ears. We are called to communicate, show warmth towards, have a genuine interest in and value others. It is a wonderful role but at what cost?

What is the course about?

The course is designed to help with developing an awareness of self. Exploring the full measure of the helper’s role and the need for self-care.
An exploration of what we give as helpers and the need for replenishing our wells before they are depleted.

What will we cover?

• Self and the Helper’s role
• Importance of self-care
• Exploring ways of caring for self
• The challenges of self-care.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Identify for self-care needs.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Any level. No particular skills required. However, you will be asked to draw on your own experience and be open to those of other students.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The emphasis is on learning through experience. There will be large group experience. You will also work in small groups.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

No other costs. Students may wish to bring a pen and notepad.
