Description

What is the course about?

The course will will help you answer the question “What should I post on my social media?”. Focusing on social media content, you will look at how to create content for social media that is right for your business. It’s not enough to just open a social media account, you must populate it with content that is relevant to your audience. This course will help you improve what you put on social media by creating a detailed strategy.

What will we cover?

Curation: Writing good content for social media that is relevant to your audience, including elements such as a call to action, sense of urgency, and quality hashtags
Understanding the power of engagement and reach for each post to determine good content
Reviewing the analytics on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to measure the reach of your content
Sourcing content for days when you have nothing to post
Sharing and retweeting content that is relevant to your audience.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Create social media content to post to LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram
Write a social media strategy for your business for one year
Recognise opportunities for gaining reach on social media with good content and hashtags.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Students taking this class need to arrive with a comfortable, working knowledge of how to use LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. (perhaps taken Social Media for Business previously) This class will see learners using the internet to research content, review other social media accounts, and post live onto your social media channel.

Students who do not have social media accounts set up or have not used social media before may find this class more advanced.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Part of the course will be delivered in lecture, offering a theoretical background to content and social media marketing. We will look at case studies and examples of good content marketing and work in groups on exercises to help write content. Then, we focus on the individual’s business by creating a social media strategy and examples of content that can be placed on social media. We will discuss when and where to post the content, how to incorporate trends or popular hashtags. Hands on work may include computer time, so students are welcome to bring laptops or mobile devices with their social media accounts ready to go. Students who wish to use classroom computers MUST bring with them their social media account log ins and be comfortable with logging into their social media account. (There will not be time in class to teach how to open a social media account from scratch.).

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You should have access to your existing social media account(s) and remember to bring with you the log in details. Not suitable for those who are looking to open a new account in class. This will help you to practice the course content during the class and gain valuable hands-on experience.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?
