What is the course about?

The course will focus on content marketing, writing a social media strategy, creating content for social media that will benefit your business. It’s not enough to just open a social media account, you must populate it with content that is relevant to your audience. This course will help you improve what you put on social media. If you already use LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for business, this class will help you answer the question “What should I post on my social media?”.

What will we cover?

• Social Media Marketing
• Content Marketing
• Curation: Writing content for social media
• Social Media Strategy Planning.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

• Write a social media strategy for your business for one year
• Create social media content to post to LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram
• Recognise opportunities for gaining reach on social media with good content and hashtags.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Students taking this class need to havea comfortable, working knowledge of how to use LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. (perhaps having taken our course Social media for business previously) This class will focus on writing content for social media and where/when to post. Students who do not have social media accounts set up or have not used social media before may find this class more advanced.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Part of the course will be delivered in lecture, offering a theoretical background to content and social media marketing. We will look at case studies and examples of good content marketing and work in groups on exercises to help write content. Then,we focus on the individual’s business by creating a social media strategy and examples of content that can be placed on social media. We will discuss when and where to post the content, how to incorporate trends or popular hashtags. Students MUST bring with them their social media account log ins and be comfortable with logging into their social media account for hands on elements of the course.(There will not be time in class to teach how to open a social media account from scratch).

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You should have access to your existing social media account(s). If you don’t have existing account(s) you will need to have a valid email address and its password to sign up for a new account. This will help you to practice the course content during the class and gain valuable hands-on experience.
