What is the course about?

This course is aimed at people who want to manage someone else’s social media. This can include a business, charity, non-profit organisation or even a community social media account.

You will learn about social media from a business perspective, why we use it and how it has become the easiest way to communicate with friends or promote a business. We will look at LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. You’ll get opportunities to practice your social media skills during lessons.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

• Using a business account versus a personal account
• Keeping your personal account separate from the business
• Setting up as an administrator for the account
• Scheduling posts in advance
• Analysing social media insights to measure performance
• Who can see what you post on social media
• How to delete a social media post
• Promoting a post via boost (paid advertising).

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This class is suitable for learners who have previous experience using social media. Basic knowledge like logging into an account, creating a post, and navigating around the website are required for this course. Suitable for those who are looking to use social media for work or to assist in another business account.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course consists of demonstrations, practical activities and discussions.
One to one guidance and support will be given throughout. Each student will log into the online session and use their own computer to access their email and social media websites. The instructor will walk you step-by-step through how to use your account. Handouts will be provided. Learners not comfortable with how to access their own computers need to familiarise themselves with this prior to class.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You should have access to your existing social media account, and your email account with their log in details in case you need to retrieve your password. Course handouts will be provided by your tutor.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Amber moved to London from Texas in 2001 to complete her MBA in International Marketing. As an Account Director for a student marketing agency, she was an early adopter in using social media in campaigns with high success. After the recession in 2009, she started teaching adults how to use social media to promote their business, often working with career changers who were switching gears after being made redundant to start their own businesses. Her approach is dynamic and engaging, vowing to make the scary world of social media accessible to everyone from the tech-savvy to the technophobe!
