What is the course about?
Work with computers, keyboards, synthesisers and recording equipment to make your 'soundscapes' (music and
sounds compositions). Start with your own musical idea, or a sample such as dance music, or a live recording of
sounds, inside or outdoors. Change the sounds by editing and re-mixing them with the computer. Upload and share your music on Soundcloud.
What will we cover?
Using the computer to make your own music
Edit, copy and paste to compose longer musical pieces
Compose music for a chosen theme
Sharing your music.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Choose sounds to make your music
Develop your computer skills for making music
Relate to a time frame (use rhythm)
Make changes to a recording
Present music to others
Discuss what makes an interesting composition
These objectives will be varied to suit your experience and ability. You will also have opportunities to develop
reading and other basic skills relevant to computer music.
